What cures chronic recurrent yeast infections?

I have been suffering with chronic recurrent yeast infections for nearly 5 years. I have been checked several times for diabetes, HIV, and all STDs. ALL NEGATIVE including herpes. I have seen numerous local doctors (OB/GYN and Infectious Disease), yet I still suffer with chronic yeast infections.  I have taken various oral/vaginal medications and supplements for yeast infections. I get a form of relief during my menstrual period but shortly after, the yeast will reappear. Several years ago, a doctors prescribed steroids (Predisone) to reduce nasal polyps and prescribed antibiotics for frequent sinus infections. In 2003, I had nasal surgery to remove the nasal polyps. The steroids were discontinued yet today I suffer with chronic sinusitis.  I am now taking Claritin and Singulair for the chronic sinusitis and Kolorex daily for yeast control. I also take Valtrex as needed for periodic nasal cold sores. I recently read that steroids and antibiotics can damage ones immune system causing yeast infections. Recently, a referred OB/GYN prescribed Fluconazole 150 mg weekly for a 6 months. The yeast continued to resurface throughout the months.  I  control my carb/sugar intake yet I do seem to crave sugar. I have even gone from a size 10 to a size 4. Please help me! I feel like I have suffered long enough.

Last week, I went back to the doctor for more test. The results were NEGATIVE for STDs, HIV,  yeast, bacteria, and HPV. She said I was normal, but we both know a thick, white, excessive, odorless vaginal discharge is not normal. Therefore, I followed my friend's (a pharmacist) advice and googled biophysical profile and thick, white discharge and Leucorrhea appeared. I will be calling my OB on Monday morning to let her know that I think that I've diagnosed myself.  I seem to have the signs of lower back pain, up late at night, tired, and most of all when I eat certain foods to avoid for Leucorrhea such as cheese, pasta, sweets, and fruit before/after my menstrual I will receive a very thick discharge. Appreciate you comments and I will keep in touch.

Sarah is right that an acidophilus supplement can't hurt. This is the same as in live cultured yoghurt. I have found that it aids IBS and other digestive issues as well for me, at least. Some of the medical literature I've seen online downplays these dietary supplements, but I can tell you that they did help reduce my own vaginal yeast infection frequency, severity & duration. It's worth a try. Also, clothing can probably play a role. I try to refrain from pantyhose in the warmer months, and switched to cotton knickers. I used to enjoy bubblebaths after a long day at work, and I used to douche frequently, both of which I strongly suspect had some influence on the balance of good & evil organisms in my body! :-) As to your supposition regarding the role of steroidal meds, I haven't a clue, but did undergo a course of injections for osteoarthritis awhile back, and feel it may have had some side effects.

Acidophilus can help keep things in balance down there. It doesnt mean you will never have another yeast infection but it will lower the chances. Its an over the counter probiotic you can get it anywhere

Have you tried asking to be referred to a allergist? Maybe there is something you're eating or drinking that can be contributing with maybe the addition of the medications you are on, all of this mixed together could be causing your body to go out of control. It could be a soap you're using or something like this. What has changed in your life in the past five years before you started getting these problems and having to take all of these medications? I know that my sister said that her daughter loves to eat lots of bread and will eat up to almost a loaf a day if you let her and it causes her to get yeast infections as well. Remember if you do drink alcohol, a lot of it has yeast in it. A lot of foods has yeast in it as well. I would doubt that maybe some of the meds that are out there probably has yeast in it. Stress does a lot to a person as well. When we get stressed out, our bodies react to it. I hope this helps you out. Good luck.
