What is the uncomfortable sensation of air bubbles in vagina

I'm on my 5th day of my period right now so my flow has been light since yesterday but just yesterday I experienced an uncomfortable sensation of air bubbles in my vagina and it keeps coming back. Do any of you know what it is? It's not painful just uncomfortable but when I lean forward the sensation goes away. Is this normal on a period and is there something I can do to alleviate the problem?
