I am a 29 year old female. 5'6", 188lbs. Two live births, 3 pregnancies. Never breast fed and my kids are both school age now. I am allergic to Penicillins, Flagyl, Clindamycin, and Macrobid.
On christmas eve I woke up with both of my breasts swollen by two cup sizes and with a sore redness on the undersides of both. I went to a walk in clinic because my GP was closed for the holiday and they diagnosed bilateral mastitis and prescribed me bactrim.
10 days later I was no better - in fact I was worse. Now I had headaches, body aches, chills, and nausea. And the redness had spend to cover more of each of my breasts. I went in to see my GP who prescribed doxycycline and zofran.
6 days later I was still ill and the redness had spread to above my nipple on the left side. I was sent to an OBGYN who prescribed Diflucan and sent me for blood work, a mammogram, and an ultrasound.
All the tests and labs came back completely normal.
4 days later (last night) I was still ill and the redness was now above the nipple on both sides. I still had headaches, back/neck aches, and now a tenderness under my armpits. The OBGYN told me to go to the ER and the ER then did repeat blood work, a repeat ultrasound, and an mri of my brain. All of which came back completely normal except the mri showed some evidence of previous migraines. The only strange thing they found beside the swollen and red breasts was the fact that my heart rate averaged high - about 130.
I have now had this problem with no relief for 22 days. My breasts are both still swollen and red almost all over, my armpits ache, my head hurts, and I have what I would call a crippling amount of fatigue.
Any thoughts?
