Why hasn’t Provera brought on my period?

So in about June, I started taking birth control and by August, I went back to the doctor because I had basically been spotting since starting the pill, and with my wedding being a couple of weeks away, I didn’t want to have my period for that time, so I went back to the doctor who put me on a higher dosage, which caused major sickness, so I went back again and he prescribed me with Provera to stop my period until I got back from my honeymoon. Now I’ve been back from my honey moon almost a month ago, so haven’t taken Provera for almost a month and still no period. I had slight spotting (light brown colour) during my honeymoon (while on Provera) but that was only a day and very little. And then slight spotting (light brown colour) the week after I got back from my honeymoon, and that lasted only a day as well. Why haven’t I got my period? Anyone else had this problem? I’ve taken a pregnancy test just in case, but I know if I haven’t ovulated since taking Provera that’s unlikely. Any advice?

Yes, for me, my hormones without any intervention righted themselves.  I was waiting to see an endocrinologist which was taking forever and before I even made it to an appointment, my hormones got in sync.  I've been regular ever since (years later).  So, often, hormones do just normalize when left on their own.

Ya, it's kind of weird when you take a pregnancy test especially since you are newly married.  There is a bit of melancholy in any not pregnant, right?  Even if you weren't trying.  It is harder to get pregnant when you are irregular with your hormones but then you could have more surprises because you do not know when you'll next ovulate.

Glad you are going to see a doctor to get their input.  Let me know what they say!

With all my irregularity, I went on to have two kids----  so you'll have your baby when the time is right! :>))

Glad your honeymoon was great.  :>))  Where did you go?

You sound like you have a major hormone imbalance. That's unfortunate.  I've had one too in my day---  produced too much estrogen and had a slow thyroid. This caused me to have a period every 3 to 4 months only for a year and a half.  So, your hormones have been manipulated by adding hormones.  So, give them another month to iron themselves out.  They likely will.  If not, then see your doctor to check the levels to see what is out of whack.  Also, just adding . . .  I think you should take a pregnancy test as you suggested just to rule it out.  Sounds like you did and it is negative?

Hey, happy marriage by the way!!  How was your honeymoon? :>)))

Thanks so much for your response. I agree with you, I think these pills have just messed with my body and my hormones are all over the place! You said you got your period only every 3-4 months, so that only lasted a year and a half and it was back to regular? It’s a bit frustrating, I don’t think I have ever wanted my period to come before because they are such a pain, but definitely doesn’t feel right not having it come! I booked an appointment with the dr on Friday just to get their opinion. I did two pregnancy tests, one last week and one today, both negative, I feel like I can rule pregnancy out. (Wasn’t trying to get pregnant, didn’t think I could have been disappointed but that one line is a bit sad!)

Thanks so much! Honeymoon was perfect, back to reality now!
