Why is my period so heavy?

For the last few months my periods have gotten heavier, that last for 2 weeks at least. It's to the point that I'm bleeding through super+ tampons within an hour. Can only use Ultra tampons and a pad. Still have to change it every couple of hours. I'm passing clots between the sizes of a quarter and half dollar. I'm not cramping like I use to either. I'm only 24, I weigh 135lbs. I've never had kids, I'm std free. I was in oral birth control for a couple of years and had to quit because it started to cause a lot of pain. I've been off of it for about a year now. I have no idea what's going on. I do plan on going to the clinic soon, it's just a little difficult on getting there.
