Working from home????

Here's the thing... I plan on being a stay at home mom, but I still need income coming in. What can I do from home that makes a reasonable living? I've seen "packages" for $49.95 but those are just a bunch of bolognes. I should start it now, so by June, everything will be off and running.
I've thought about selling things on e-bay, but that dosnt sound too promising. I'm not one of those "get rich quick" people and not into stuffing envelopes.
I'm fine with things over the computer, but not knowledgable about what's out there.
So, give me ideas, personal experiences, what to watch out for, etc. Anything works.
THANKS SO MUCH!!!

i stay at home with my kids, and watc other peoples children as well. The licensing cost was minimal, and i get inspected annually, but since I keep the house clean, and my paperwork up to date, it has never been a problem. I am licensed, which means i can have up to 10 kids depending on their ages, and the pay is really good. I work with the kids on learning everything they would at a preschool, and it has been a wondewrful way to earn money while at home. I have been at it almost eight years now. good luck with whatever you decide to do.

The company is Cigna which is a legit company.  I am excited about it.  Its not like most that you see where you buy a list of Drs names.  It was listed just as if it was a job and requirements were the high speed interent no boardband or dial-up and a second phone line.  I am sure I'll need the company software but there was nothing mention about me purchasing it.  I would think that it would be provided if I were hired as part of the company's network.  If it pans out I'll post so.  I am also looking into some of the other big insurance companies.  Sagamore is no good because they have a real time program used in office.  They last office I worked at we were setting it up as a test site and that was 6 years ago so I would believe most if not all kinks have been worked out.
Good Luck to you !

I'm not sure of your skill level as far as clothes design goes, but I saw this girl on Ebay who makes the cutest, hip dresses out of regular fabrics that you can buy at Wal-Mart, and she sells them for quite a bit. There was a dress on there from a popular video game that she was asking $250 for, and it sold!!! Good Luck!

I too am trying to find a WAHJ and have been searching.  The one thing I have found is if you have to pay it is bogus.  You should never have to pay to get a job.  The ones you have to pay for are usually businesses oppurtinities.  There are several web sites that are decent.  Try searching telecommute, work at home, work from home, data entry, customer services.  I found one for medical claims which is what I use to do and would be perfect for me to do from home but I have to have a high speed internet access which Thank God our phone company just started the service.  (We dont get cable where I live) So hopefully this will work out for me, and good luck to you keep searching, it has taken me awhile.

Where to begin? The e-bay idea is actually a good one. I've heard SO many positive stories of people that got their start from e-bay. I myslef am NO e-bay expert, have trouble figuring how to even buy from there, LOL but you are younger and more patient I'm sure. Okay, You are about to start neding maternity clothes, and I am thinking that this is where your focus on fasion may be in the coming months. So maybe you could use that to your advantage, plus, you are young and know what young women find fasionable, unlike the ugly **** I had to wear. again LOL. Big ugly bows and prints that made you look even bigger than your average barn! Oh and accessories!!! My girls LOVE accessories!! Purses, scarves, costume jewelry etc.. And my daughter has a friend that is into altering tee-shirts. She calls it tee-shirt surgery, and seems to be hitting the teen market like crazy. You could google it to se what I am talking about and you could market something as simple as tee-shirts that you have altered in the comfort of your own home.. The profit margin would be pretty nice and it wouldn't take much money to get started.. If you have a fleas market type thing in your area, you could rent a booth on the weekends and sale your products. I know when I was a teen, everyone judged you by how expensive your clothes were, and now Wal-mart and being cheap is in! At least right now and from what I am seeing in my kids' High School.
There is SO much you could do! I can totally appreciate how it can be hard to not only find the motivation, but to stick with it. Just remember, If you love what you do, then you will never work a day in your life!
Hey, how are you feeling? Eating okay? Feeling movement yet? Give us the goods! LOL

I went to fashion school for a quarter, majoring in product development. I quit because that school was a total fake. I felt conned, and suckered into attending. I suppose if I went to a different school, Product Development would still have been the best choice for me.
Owning a boutique has always been something I've wanted, but havn't made the leap foward to getting there. I always gave up.
Your ideas on importing and being a personal stylest has given me a whole world of brainstorming. I havn't thought of those before. But importing is definately a fabulous idea. There are no limits there.
Thank you so much for your idea. :-)

I think to find something that inspires you, you have to figure out what motivates you. It took me a long time to figure it out for myself, but once I knew what made me want to get up in the morning, I found a job that fit that, and there you go - I was inspired. Is money your motivation? Sounds like you need it to be from home, so now that you know that, you know you like clothing, and you probably want good money for it - if you had a little start up cash, you could import fashions from a foreign place, or from unique boutiques in a nearby state or country, and sell them out of your home. Is it the actual clothes you love most? Or does making women look great inspire you? You could be a personal makeover & shopping assistant. Price yourself by the hour or by the client, and use the client's money to go shopping for the client, etc. Find a market to aim yourself at (like single thirtysomething professionals, post-motherhood fiftysomethings, etc.) and throw yourself into it. You'll do great - just find that combination of elements of the job that motivate you! Hope that helps keep you thinking. Good luck :-)

I sometimes design and make clothes, and I have a facination with lingerie, hopeing that someday I will have a boutique... I just need to dicipline myself into getting it done. Maybe I can have an online store and put it on e-bay, and have a websight and market it myself. And maybe I could work for a taylor or bridal shop to get more experience. That's an idea.....
It seems so out there though. Like I cant grab it, and too scared to even try because I might fail, or lose interest.
I think I'm lazy and lack determination. That attitude wont get me anywhere. How can I get more inspiration?

It's funny, I seem to answer my own questions quite often. But they say, the conversations you have with yourself are the best. :-D
