abnormal bleeding for months

Hello all! I have been dealing with this issue since around January (approx. 4 months). Here's a short background: I'm 25 years old. I have been known to have at least one cyst in the past, and I have gradually gained about 50 lbs over the past year without much change in my diet. I've been chronically constipated for about 8 years now if that means anything. My period has always been pretty normal for the most part. I am sometimes sexually active, but I have no worries about pregnancy. In fact, I took a test in January and one again last week and both were negative. No kids prior to this by the way. The problem is that starting in January, my period came very late. In February, I had brown discharge with a little bit of blood. The strange part is that ever few weeks since then, I have the same discharge with minimal blood, mostly brown. It isn't even coming on the days I would normally start, just every 2-3 weeks and lasts between 2-4 days. I don't experience cramps, but a bit of discomfort that isn't too noticeable. Has this happened to any of you? I'm afraid it could be something serious, but money is tight and I just can't afford a doctor's visit right now. Boy I wish I could, though. Any and all comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

I remember doing some research on PCOS last year some time, but I didn't have that many symptoms. I see that I have gradually been getting some of the symptoms for it, though. I'm going to make sure to ask my gyno about this when I am able to go. Thanks

I haven't been on birth control since my teens, so I don't think there is any correlation there. I meant to mention it in my question, but only thought about it afterwards!

Sounds like you may have PCOS. Gaining weight of that nature in a short amount of time, is not good. I would say that is a big part as to why your periods are messed up now. You really need to see a doctor, a GYN is your best option.
