birth control and pregnancy

Hello, I am new to this site and just wondering if anyone has gotten pregnant while taking the pill. I have been taking the pill for a number of years, but lately having some occassional waves of nausea, increased urination, and lots of fatigue. However, this could be all in mind, as my husband and I have began discussing stopping the pill and TTC. My AF is due in about 6-7 days. Anyone ever gotten pregnant on the pill?

I was taking Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for only 10 days, it was my very first pack. I went out of town and forgot my pills, so therefore I didn't take pills for 4 days. I took the last pill on Wednesday night Dec 5th. I had unprotected sex on that Wednesday night & that following Friday night, Dec 9th. Started withdrawal bleeding on Sunday, Dec 9th. Although I had Withdrawal bleeding is there still a chance I could be pregnant?

I just found out I got pregnant on the pill.  I took it the same time every day, never missed it, not on antibiotic.  I guess it might be OK except my husband has three kids from a previous marriage.  I have 2 and we had one together just 15 months ago.  I really need someone who understands what I am going through to talk to.  That is how I ended up here.  I am not sure if I will know how to get back into this sight.  If I don't, please e-mail me at ***@**** if you want to correspond.  Thank you

Thanks for the info. It seems that anything is possible, nothing is 100% effective. I guess it is just a waiting game now. Although is would be unplanned if AF did not show up, I would be thrilled.

Oh my goodness, you are certainly going through some crazy stuff right now.  I can completely understand your hesitation to have more kids based on the hemorrhaging.  That is scary!  I hope things go well with your u/s.  Tell DH that you need to get through this one pg before he starts bugging you for more kids.  Remind him that it's better to have you around!  :-)  Let us know how things go for you.

I got pregnant while on the pill.  I was taking Ortho tri cyclen for 7 years and then switched to Ortho tri cyclen lo and got pregnant a month later.  My mom got pregnant while she was on the pill as well.

It is absolutely possible to get pregnant while on the pill.  I got pg. with my first child while on the pill.
However, there are usually some extra circumstances (forgetting to take them, antibiotics use while using the pill, etc.)
The best bet is to wait and take a pg test.  Good luck...MH

Thanks for your replies. I have taken the pill consistently, but during the holidays I was not taking the pill at the same time each day. Not sure if that affects effectiveness or not. I guess only time will tell.

My mom got pregnant with me while taking the pill... She didnt take it correctly though, she'd miss a few days here and there so it defeated the purpose...
It happens all the time to my understanding...
But if you take it correctly you have 1 in a 100 chances of getting pregnant, as they say, the pill is only 99% effective..

It is possible to get pregnant if you don't use the pill exactly like your supposed to.  Also, if your taking any medication while on the pill it can make it not work.  I have known several people who got pg while on the pill and taking antibiotics.  There drs. didn't tell them about the possibility.
