Female, 60, hypothyroid (currently untreated), good BP, good weight. No major medical problems but I am under an extreme amount of stress. Have a vein pop about every two to three weeks- started 3 months ago. Couple days ago had a pop in middle finger near joint that caused a lot of pain in that joint. Just adding mine to the list...

The RA test was for the Rheumatoid factor. That was negative.
I think it was the ESR which was raised which shows inflammation.
As you say though it can be all very inconclusive as you can have swollen, sore joints and have normal blood tests.
Hope you're doing well.

I am so relieved! I thought I was crazy! 24 F, in good health- well I guess. I recently was told I have this "rare" Raynauds Syndrome. Hands and feet go very numb, turn purple, etc. If I touch certain metals, especially outdoors (chains on swings, railings, etc.) my hands swell and itch. Just today I was doing yard work and noticed my right index finger was sore. Looked down, there was a purple looking bruise and it was raised- Broken blood vessel. Not the only time this has happened. Based on this and previous posts from others these things have to be related.

It's amazing that this condition is supposedly rare but so many people have experienced it!  I am sitting here with a giant purple thumb, relieved that i am certainly not alone.  I would suggest it is a common occurence and one comment on page 1 rings true for me.  I am 42, have low blood pressure, am not overweight (or underweight) and I guess there could be hormonal issues, given my age.  Just wish i could bend my thumb though.

What was the RA test?  Was it the ANA  blood test?  If so, you can test negative for years while still having RA or Lupus or Scleroderma I do believe.  At least that's what happened to me.  Good luck.
