can you fall pregnant if a clip falls off 9 yrs after tubal ligation ?

i've recently had a lot of pain in my left abdomen .... i went to the doctor for a x ray and to my suprise  my right clip was off and lingering around .... i went to my doctor who refered me to the emergency room at my local hospital .. after a HUGE amount of test .. they were baffled as to why i was in so much PAIN !! .... So i ask the doctor could the clip be causing all the pain he was unsure but said that i should be very careful as i am at a risk of pregnancy again .... has this happened to anyone you know off ?? PLEASE PLEASE let me know ....

Well I don't know about 9 years afterwards but I have a cousin because of the tubes reconnected sometime under 2 years.

Are they suspecting or suggesting a higher risk for an ectopic pregnancy? Could that be causing the pain? Or maybe an ovarian cyst?
