cramps and spotting 18 yrs. after hysterectomy

I had a vaginal hysterectomy in 98 and kept my ovaries.  I've had no problems for 18 years, but suddenly am having cramps like menstrual cramps.  This morning I was woke up by cramps, and had some slight spotting when I went to the bathroom.  I can't go to the dr. for 3 months because I'm waiting for my insurance to be reinstated after having had to appeal.  I cannot afford a doctor right now.  What could cause this? I'm 62 yrs. old.

What are your hormone levels like?  Do you think you still ovulate?  If so, it could be just the fact that you ovulated.  It could even be something like an ectopic pregnancy, if a sperm found a pathway to your abdomen somehow.  Are you sexually active?
