I had an endometrial biopsy today. Thank you to all who posted. My Dr informed me that it would be very painful but it only last 15 sec and "you can endure anything for 15 second right?" She said, one lady said never again, then she said I could do it. after these comments, I researched this and saw all the comments here. I also researched this on medical sites for peer review articles. here's what i found out. My dr uses a device which collects multiple samples from multiple sites for 15 seconds. This is the best for ruling out cancer since it gets all locations. it is used commonly by many doctors and is called vabra aspiration. some doctors collect only one small sample from one location and this may be why some biopsies are less painful. my doctor does lots of biopsies so she is good at it. I decided to have her do this procedure, but, I insisted on Valium, lortab, cytotec (to dilate the cervix) and I also, took aleve. I took 400 mg cytotec the night before and 100 mg the day of the procedure and getting the device in my uterus was so easy, even though I have never had a vaginal delivery. I also insisted on intra uterine lidocaine. After she inserted 5cc of lidocaine gel, she waited 5 min. For it to work. Make sure to wait these 5 minutes. There was no pain, only slight pressure even when she took the biopsy. I think she was surprised I had no pain. Please ask your doctor for these meds. Btw. The cost for the meds was very minimal after my insurance. I think I paid $5 after insurance for all this. Please ask for this! I am so thankful for the prayers of my church family and for the medications that made this procedure painfree!
Hi, I have endometrial tissue, no bleeding, regular menst cycle, FISH test normal, could this be cancer? I am 34
I had this horrid thing done yesterday in the doctors office. no kind of pain meds, anesthesia, not even a kiss. I have had 2 very bad paps and a bad colposcopy and biopsy. But the colpo biopsy wasnt done correctly so this new doc wants to do a leep, and an an ablasion (he also wanted to do these in his office without numbing, but my ins. insits on it being done in hosp) anyway he did the biopsy yesterday because one of the paps showed atypical glandular cells, endocervical so he said he had to do rhis before the other tests. I just want a hysterectomy! get it overwith. pre-cancer isnt something i wan to wait around for to get worse. Im also not having anymore biopsies done without being numb or asleep. The colpo biopsy of my cervix was bad enough, this thing about killed me. He said since my period was about to start it wouldnt be so bad but when he was scaping the uterus it felt like he was ripping it out, everything I read said the scape like once or twice. He used the one thing like it was an ice scraper about 20 times, got another one and repeated it, then another one. maybe because of the reason he was doing it?? Anyway, now I cant tell if Im having a bad period or if he did something wrong..
I am having an endometrial biopsy next week sometime. My doctor wanted to do it in her office, but I said no way. I don't have a high tolerance for pain. Since I am post-menopausal, and haven't gotten a period for 2 years, she said I would have trouble with my cervix opening up. I have decided to go to the hospital to have it done, since it will be painful. I will be under some type of aenesthesia. Hopefully, I won't feel a thing!
Hi I had a biopsy done of my uterus 6 months ago in the doctor's office. The one I had 9 months ago didn't really hurt this last one I thought she was cutting me up. They don't give you anythingn to numb you, yet they are opening your cervix. I had hyperplasia but ordered the vitamins and progesterone cream from the womentowomen.com site and when I had the 2nd biopsy everything was normal. I am also being treated for hypothyroidism, yet my family doctor hasn't seen me or done a blood test since March. My GYN has ordered the blood test now because your thyroid can also cause the problems. Check out the womentowomen.com site. It worked for me instead of a hysterectomy or deproprivera shots. Let me know
Hello,
I am scheduled for an endometrial biopsy this sat.I will be admitted tom for medical tests before the procedure. The Dr said they will also do a d&c. The reason for this is because my monthly menstruation is always heavy. I have to use diapers instead of sanitary napkins. Was it painful? Did they give you anaesthesia? I was told that she will put me to sleep because it's painful. I'm getting scared...
Hope you can give me an idea on what they will do.
Thanks a lot!
