false positive pregnancy tests

I have had a lot of the symptems of being pregnant. I took a home test & it was positive. To make sure I tool another test the next day & it came out negative it was a different brand, so now what do I do? Do I take another one different brand, or could it be my pain medication? I need help Please!

Depends on the pain med.  Many are safe during pregnancy (ie hydrocodone, oxycodone, tylenol 3).  I'm not saying that everyone should run out for prescriptions but I don't want anyone to feel guilty or worry about taking them if they find out they are pregnant.

I agree with suzi about the pain meds. It may be quicker to go the the gp and see if they will do a bloods for u ASAP, cos if the prescribed the meds u can try explain u think ur preg etc.

hi! i would take one asap or either stop taking you pain med. until you know for sure b/c if you are then you need to stop the pain med. as soon as you can. good luck.

It's not your pain medication.  Different brands can have different sensitivities.  Also, was it a clearly and easily seen  second line, or did you really have to look closely from all angles?

If you wait a couple of days, your hormone level should be built up more and the HCG should be detected by any brand.
