finished treatment for bv.. now it itches, what could it be?

I was given metronidazole to treat Bacterial Vaginosis for twice a day for 5 days, it worked within the 2-3 day the odor cleared up, no itching nothing, however after i finished what i was prescribed to take, i started to have dryness and was itching again , i have phoned the GUM and im not happy with the responce I had as they gave no help or information , but told me to wait until my other results come back for sti's, I dont understand because the treatment has worked but now that ive finished for about 3 days its itchy and is dry,. ive heared it can be recurring and yeast infection can occur , any ideas what it coule be? thanks,.. pleasssee help:(. realy annoyed with the nurses not being able to help or give advice.

i feel alot more relaxed now , thank you! =) think i will phone them again now the medicience has worked but just have this annoying itching now and the doctor said he could not see any sti,

thank you for replying!, its just ive tried the pessaries for thrush couple of weeks ago and it didnt work so i got cheked out and it was Bv, I have used cream vagisil to reduce pain, but i will try aqueous cream thank you!, i've been reading it could be a yeast infection , but have no idea, just its very strange because the metronidazole worked very fast and now that ive come off itching burning and dry..not allergic to it because only when i finished its had this affect very confused, and most people would say to phone the clinic so i did and nothing was made of it..x

It happened me exactly the same thing . After metronidazole against bv i developed itching the doctor prescribed to me difluxan it is only one pill and it cleans the yeast infection. she said is very common after the antibiotics to get yeast.

It could be thrush, as you have had treatment for a bacterial infection. i would suggest using some aqueous cream...its very bland and my doctor recommended it for my burning vulval syndrome. you can buy it pretty cheap in big tubs.

Otherwise its best to wait and see what the tests show but i would change GUM clinics cause they sound a bit thick to me!
