heavy yellow discharge

Does anyone know what this is?  I have had this heavy yellowish discharge for months and it has this really gross smell, like dirty socks.  When I am doing yoga or other forms of exercise I feel it coming out and it feels really gross, but the smell is the worst part.  I have not been sexually active in years, but I will be going to visit a guy in a couple of months that I have been in a long distance relationship with and I do not want to be intimate with him with this going on!  I have been seen by the gynecologist and she said the cultures were negative.  I have tried Monistat, something for bacterial infections, and even Rephresh, and nothing has helped.  I would give anything to get rid of this problem.

I believe it's trick so you can either visit the doctor or get the medication yourself from www.xlpharmacy.com and you won't need a prescription.  What you want is Flagyl 400MG take 5 at one time and that will be 2 MG, and get Cipro in case it's something else and that will be in 500 MG caps, take 2 and your ready.

girl522 is right.  The bacteria in yogurt is not the same as vaginal bacteria. They do not have the ability to attach to the vaginal walls like your own normal flora.  Also, taking lactobacillus suppliments will no help vaginal infections either. The bacteria can not migrate through your gut into the vagina.

mchris, you should really go back to the doc. Discharges and oders are not good.

It seems from reading through these threads that a lot of women do not really know what their doctors are doing or why. If your stress level is high going into the doctors office, bring paper and pen with you. Ask your doctor to write down what they are doing and what they are testing you for. When trying to figure out vaginal problems, an accurate past history can be key.

honestly, the yogurt idea is a myth but i have known it to work for some and not others. its worth a try...it cant hurt at this point. however, i think its "supposed" to help with just yeast infections? also, a good idea is to dip a tampon in yogurt and insert.

Hi ther Honey, I have the best piece of advice for you and other women. You need to quit wasting your money on those expensive yeast creams that sometimes do more harm then good. All you need is plain white yogurt, I swear it's the god honnest truth. Make sure it's plain not flavored with anything, and just slap it on down there, you can even put it inside of you however you feel you can get it up there. It's a very viable honest pure way to cure these kinds of imbalances in our womenly area. It's worked for thousands of years and has been around for centuries. It's a very natural homeopathic way of medicine. Hope I could help, Rebecca

The type of lactobacillus that is present in yogurt isn't the same one that is present in the vagina.  It's just a myth.  I believe it works if you have problems in your digestive tract though.

It was metronidazole that I was given by the doctor, I'm not sure what she tested me for, though.  I guess I better go back and see her again.

I've always heard that yellow discharge means trichamonis.  Maybe you should get tested for that.

i would diffently go back to the dr or go to another one. you should not be having that kind of discharge or smell. anytime you have yellow discarge it is not good or if it smells. the longer you wait the more chance you have that it will cause more problems or if it is a infection it can lead to PID which can affect you having children one day. see a dr asap. good luck

What were you tested for?  I had bacterial vaginosis a while back and I had thick, yellowish discharge.  I don't think there are any over the counter medications for bacterial vaginosis, so if you have this and are undiagnosed, whatever medication you were taking for bacterial infections would not be effective.  This could be what you have, but obviously if your doctor tested you for it and the results were negative, you'll have to look elsewhere.
