It is extremely variable as to when you get pregnant and it depends between pregnancies.  Some people get pregnant in their first cycle and others take years.

But basically in the middle of your cycle you ovulate and an egg is released.  It is normally fertilized within 24 hours otherwise it dies.  Then the fertilized embryo makes it's merry way along your fallopian tubes to the uterus where about a week after you ovulated, it implants.  Then about a week later you have your first missed period which is normally your first sign of being pregnant.

There are home urine pregancy tests that can be done 10 days post ovulation but you need to know when you ovulated as everyone is different.  If you test too early you may have a false negative and be needlessly disappointed.

So the best thing to do is to do a test a few days (or a day or two if you can't wait) after your missed period.

You could be pregnant but if you test now you are likely to get a negative result.  And your symptoms could be psychosomatic because you want to be pregnant so you think you are.
