how soon trying to get pregnant after miscarriage

I've read in my prgenancy books and on forums and I've been told by doctors to wait 1 to 3 cycles before trying to get pregnant again after having had a miscarriage recently. But there doesn't seem to be any research to back this up...no one can tell me if there's a medical risk if I get pregnant sooner. Does anyone know? I am 36 years old and had a m/c on my first pregnancy last month and I'm eager to try again. If it's for emotional reasons that people say to wait, well getting pregnant again will make me feel better as that was my goal, but I don't want to have an increased risk of another m/c by getting pregnant too soon. But time is an issue b/c I am 36 and just starting to have children now. I know this all may be pointless if I don't ovulate again soon, but hoping thinsg get back to normal soon. I had a natural m/c and my hcg levels are almost back to normal or zero. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Congratulations!!

mrsmoney1 -  Good to know that you levels are dropping, at least that ensures you can start trying soon! I checked with some docs on why levels rise even after D&C..it could be because some part of placenta is still stuck and it can cause levels to increase temporarily. Hope you will be fine soon.
My hysteroscopy came out fine, waiting to get the endometrium biopsy report on Monday.

You don't have to say sorry.I am more than happy to share information with you because I can finally can talk to someone who can relate to my situation in some type of way.

After the d&c, my doctor ordered more blood work for me. I don't know anything about a report but when the results came back after the procedure (d&c), my levels went up. So he requested for me to another sono and an injection of methotrexate. My levels increased again the next couple of days; however, I do have good news. Yesterday, my blood work results indicated that my levels decreased. I just came back from the doctor (more blood work). Now I am waiting on them to call me with the results.

I am happy now! Not that I lost my first child but because I finally have closure. With levels increasing and nothing being seen on the sono, I was worried sick and began to ask what if....?

I had one miscarriage.  Waited three months to try.  Had a second...HCG only got to 1900 and wasn't rising properly.  Tried next month and now have a healthy boy.  Pregnant a fourth time and my hcg is rising slow but ultrasounds showed a sac??

Did you get the D&C report, what does it say, sorry to be asking these questions and you are already in pain with the daily b/w. D&C is actually a blind procedure since they do not really see whats inside. Is it possible for you to get an u/s done from some other facility?
When I had a mc, the sonographer herself took me to another u/s machine after she first found that there was no heartbeat, just to make sure the machine wasn't saying anything wrong.
We are moving to IVF this moth because of the male factor, but the RE wants to do a hysteroscopy to make sure the uterus is fine after the D&C procedure.

Blood work came back. My level is now over 2700. The doc is saying that he still doesn't see anything via ultrasound. I had a d&c done. My levels increased. Then I was given a shot of methotrexate and my levels increased again.

This is a long stressful mc not to mention my first pregnancy. It is stressful with the daily reminder and constant dr visits. They are drawing blood EVERY day since the 17th.

Thank you hoping4mybaby. I did not get a second opinion which I am regreting each day along with daily reminders of it! I keep asking myself what if.....? I try not to stress over it but its hard considering that I am still carrying a baby that I cannot keep. Not to mention, they are not seeing anything on the ultrasounds.

I Will keep you all posted.
