immune sytem and perimenopause

I am 44 and have always been very healthy, no kids by choice. I don't take any sort of medication. I am going into perimenopause  and  have experienced menstrual flooding and the worst cramps I have ever had in my life. My research tells me this isn't uncommon. However, for the last two months right before my period, I have come down with a virus that presents cold and flu like symptoms and clears up after the second or third day of my cycle.  I haven't come across any correlations between a depressed immune system and perimenopause. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, any suggestions on how to deal with this? Thanks!
