info in the news!

I just heard on the news that men who only have daughters are more prone to have prostate cancer!!!  Dh and I have 2 girls! They said that the more girls ya have will increase the chances.  Have any of ya'll ever heard about this? We couldn't have anymore so i don't know if a boy would of come around or not.  Dh has had a few pains while he's pee'n. He said it will bring him on his toes. It has only happened a few times and of course being the stubborn manly man he is  - HE WON'T GO TO THE DOC!.  I didn't think much of it at the time, but now I'm worried. I'm gonna tell him, but i doubt it will do any good. Anybody have more scary info on it so i can scare him into goin to the doc?? Is it the man or the woman that decides the sex of the baby?  He ,of course, was upset cause we didn't have a son. Our last name stops since there is no one to carry it on. He is great with our girls though. He teaches them all the boy stuff. lol Like shooting a gun, goin campin, changin the oil in the car  etc.....  Thanks for any info.
BTW - I hope everybody has a great weekend!

Hi Lucy,

I saw that same story on the news and I didn't pay it much attention.  But I know how hard it is to get these men to go to the doctor.  It's unbelievable how stubborn they can be.  If I were you I would stress how important it is for him to be around to see your daughters get married.  That should definitely guilt him into going.  Sorry I can't give you any other info on the subject but just wanted you to know I saw the same thing.

Good luck!

I think I'm gonna tell him it said his "thingy" will stop working. That means no more sex! He might run there then. I'm gonna work on him this weekend. Maybe he will listen. I just wanted to share what i had heard. Have a good weekend!

As far as your question about the sex of the baby, the male's sperm is the deciding factor. Woman all carry the Y chromosome, if the man's sperm is also Y then it is a girl, if it an X Chromosome then you will have a boy. I may be mixed up on the letters, but that is what I remember from HS Biology.

yes, the male determines the sex of the baby.  i didn't hear the report you've mentioned, but my father had only girls and he's alive and healthy at 84!  your dh really should go to the doc tho - maybe he has a URI?

I didn't see the report either.  I definitely think your DH should go to the doctor though.  I hear what you're saying- mine won't go either.  He says they'd have to knock him out for a week, so he wouldn't remember any part of the procedure.  How old is your DH?  I think problems with the prostate usually start when men are older, but I know other things aren't age specific, including testicular abnormalties.  Not to scare him, but maybe knowing that would get him to go.
