irregular menstrual cycle

My IUD, kyleena, has been in place a little over a year. Here recently I have been having some issues with my menstrual cycle. I bled for 3 weeks. Stopped for a week and a half. Started again for another week. Was off for a week. And just today I started bleeding again. I have recently tested negative for all STIs. I'm not sure what is going on here. This is highly unusual.

I should add, I'm 36. No children.

In your shoes, I'd consider removing the IUD and going to a different form of birth control.
Definitely a consideration, thank you.

Your IUD is the hormonal type.  It's supposed to be good for up to 5 years.  You are supposed to seek medical attention if you have heavy or this type of bleeding you describe 6 months after having the IUD placed.  https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/326543#when-to-see-a-doctor  Breakthrough bleeding can happen but this sounds more than that.  I'd check in with your doctor.  I'd want to make sure it's not dislodged and that the hormones are the right level for you.
Thanks, I'll bring that up with my obgyn
Sounds good.  I hope you come back and let us know what they say!
So far, we were able to confirm that it isn't dislodged. She saw no signs of infection. She again tested for BV, yeast infection, gonorrhea and chlamydia. Negative. Next up is an ultrasound this week.
