light pink spotting and a little of brownish discharge 3 days before period

I started to spot this morning when I went to the bathroom. I am not due for my period for 3 days. It is light pink with some brownish like discharge. I also have mild cramping. Could I be starting my period early or could I be pregnant. I took a HPT on tuesday but it was negative. Any info would be nice. Thanks!

I had the exact thing happen to me.  I assumed this was just a light period, although it never amounted to much bleeding, didn't even need a tampon.  It wasn't until I skipped the next months period that I put two and two together and sure enough I was already 8 weeks !
