Were you having regular periods for a long time up until now? If so, has something really stressful happened recently that could have caused this one to be delayed? If this continues, I'd recommend going to a gynecologist even if you aren't sexually active yet. I say this because a few years ago my periods started getting farther and farther apart, and it turned out my hormone levels were out of whack so the gynecologist put me on birth control pills to fix the problem.
I agree that virginity is something to be proud of. It is normal to have periods irregularly at 16, especially if you don't have a lot of body fat and/or are going through a stressful time. If you don't see it for 6 months, see your ob-gyn, maybe get a workup. All the best to you!
Don't worry, at your age I had the same situation but my period was absent for 5 monts, thats normal at a young age. And as an advise from me I reccommend you to still virgin, congratulations, I lose mine at 18 and I would prefer to wait until I know for sure I was going to be with that person forever.
