my period is being weird. like why?

I've been on birth control for about the past 2years. my period is usually very light and only lasts about 3 or 4 days at the most and I usually only get cramps the first day. last month I noticed I had cramps for like 2 or three days. I use tampons and I usually only need like 1 regular for the first day and then either light tampons or no tampons for the rest of my period. last month I filled regulars about 3 times. I finished my period about a day late and then a week later I started spotting. it was super light and kind of a pinkish red. like blood mix with discharge. that continued for about a week or so. but then last Sunday I started bleeding like my normal period. but it was early. it was just like the month before. except it stopped kind of earlier. just last night I started spotting again. it was super light like when I started apottu g the last time and this morning it just looked like old blood mixed with discharge. I should add that right before this started I was having protected sex often. I also missed one pill on a Thursday but caught up right away on Friday. so what could this be? I haven't started my new package of birth control yet. I wanna go back to my regular schedule and start on Sunday like I always do.

sorry if its tmi but I just wanted to be clear.
