Hi,

My mom had this going on and finally was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome.  The doctors put her on ibuprofen for the inflamation and she now has wrist braces (you can buy similar ones at Wal-mart) that keep her wrists from bending while she's asleep.  I would try this before getting too worried about it.  Give it two or three weeks before giving up though, because the inflammation takes time to heal.

This could be quite a number of things.. quickly, some various general possible causes could be:
Paresthesias
Nerve disorders
Nerve entrapments
Nerve compression syndromes
Repetitive motion disorders
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Circulatory disorders
Diabetes
Rheumatoid arthritis
Multiple sclerosis
Hyperventilation
Stroke
Transient ischemic attack
Panic attack

Are you taking any new medications? Have you been putting any excessive strain on  your body? If it persists you should see a DR.
