odor and discharge coming from naval

I was hoping you could give me some information. For a few days now I have had a reddish naval along with that I have also noticed a discharge and a strong odor. Could you please tell me why this could be happening?

I've also had this problem.  I have not seen a doctor, but I believe it is a topical yeast infection.  I've used Monistat cream that was left over from a vaginal yeast infection and it seems to get rid of the problem, temporarily.  It returns occasionally in the summer months.  We've had a terribly hot summer this year, so I've had to treat the problem several times.  I've just put a dab of the cream at the entrance of my navel and then used a cotton swab to rub it inside.  The smell is horrible, and the rash is red and burns.  The cream does the trick within two days, but I'd recommend using it for an entire week.

it could be from not eating properly, i honestly think that is what it is caused from. My aunty was concerned about weight she had gained from a pregnancy and tried to solve her problem by starving herself and only ate once and a while. while she was doing this she also had this discharge but soon went aways once she started eating more. Try to eat 4-6 portion sized meals a day and the discharge along with the odor may discontinue.

Gosh I thought I was the only one with this problem. Up until now, I believed the odor and moist discharge was sweat. I had no body piercing down there, and to my knowledge no infections. Now I recently noticed that the discharge when from moist and clear to brownish in color. Did you find out anything new?

I also had this odor but it was followed by this chunk of black (scab looking) piece of matter. Never saw it ever before.
Made me think of my Sons belly button cord at birth.
I had surgery many years ago. Thought it could be dried blood from then.
Wish I knew what it is from.
Had this odor discharge one time when I was about sixteen. Nothing but the odor at that time.
Has anyone ever had this before?
If so, what is it?

I've had this for quite a while, as has my best friend. She went to the doctor and they gave her antibiotics but I have yet to go. I've had it for about a year, maybe two. I just keep it clean and the redness with go away. The odor isn't as bad if you clean it, as well. The antibiotics cleared hers up for a while but it's reoccurring. Some women get it. Some don't.

I would go to the doctor if you have health insurance. I just forget to mention it when I go in.

this may be an obvious question but do you have your belly button pierced? this can cause infection sometimes.someone else posted about the same problem (odor and discharge). i suggested a possible infection. you should clean it gently w. rubbing alcohol and cottonball/q-tip. you may have a pimple, ingrown hair in there. i would scan this forum for any related posts and read them and responses. does it hurt? feel any lumps in there?

Are you overweight? Do you wear tight pants?
I think you need to give a bit more information.
It will help someone find out why you are having
this.  Were you sick recently?  Surgery?  Anything
else that could be related?
Just trying to help.
