Hi,
Actually , my Dr. thought that's what I had originally. An Ovarian Fibroid is known as a Fibroma. They thought my "cyst" was solid until my laparoscopic procedure. It was then determined it was a simple cyst...In my case, and at my age (way beyond menopause), I had the ovary and tube removed. However, that may not always be the case. You may want to "Google" Ovarian Fibroma for more information which is what I did since I was unfamiliar with the term at the time.. Learn something new every day right!  Try not to worry too much about it though and keep us posted...

You may want to get more information from your doctor.  Fibroids are associated with the uterus, not the ovaries.  Cysts are associated with the ovaries.
