pain and discomfort during urination

hi... my bf and i just had sex for the 1st time. in fact we did it thrice in 2 days. after which, i feel pain whenever i urinate, especially towards the end. there's also this weird pressure in my lower abdominal all the time especially after i urinate. not only so, i tend to feel like urinating all the time even though there's nothing much coming out at all... has this got anything to do with our sexual intercourse? i have not been to a gynecologist before and am quite worried as to what will happen if i were to visit one. plus my mum will go with me as well and i dont really want her to find out about my sexual activities. =< it's been 5 days since i've felt discomfort... i'm real worried... is there anything i can do other than going to the doc???

i juzt had the zimilar zymptomz like yourz, vagina itching and burning, and dizcharge like cottage cheeze, uzually a week before period, I went to zee doctor and juzt like my zuzpicition, it'z a yeazt infection or fungal infection. the bezt remedy iz juzt get anti fungal cream which alzo containz anti inflammatory cream (hidrocortizone and clotrimazole) you can get it from pharmacy without doctor prezcription and if you are zexually active, your partner might get the zame infection, zo you may az well give thiz cream to him. the next remedy iz, if you are virgin doctor will give you oral treatment, but if you are not, juzt get your zelf pezzariez, thiz containz clotrimazole 1000mg which you will inzert deep into vagina to get rid the whole funguz, you will be required to do thiz treatment in 6 dayz non ztop. which worked very well for me. i thought i would live bearing that pain forever.

and i am alzo giving my zelf remedy for pain during urination, i juzt dont want to go to clinic anymore, i've had thiz before and doctor gave me amoxycylin treatment for a week and the pain'z gone. that waz almozt 2 yearz ago and really zevere, accompanied by fever, back pain and ztomachache that i could not locate where it waz. doctor zaid it waz kidney infection. what i have now, i conzidered az mild, zo i juzt followed "drinking water" which iz relieving and the pain iz decreacing. i juzt dont want to conzume anymore antibiotic. zo, if i keep drinking a lot of water and i dont feel anymore pain in urination,,,doez it mean am cured? i'm thinking to get cranberry pillz now :( how about olive leaf extract, i read that thiz iz the bezt natural anti funguz and anti viral therapy....i've proved it for other dizeaze and it work, will it help with pain in urination tho? coz i have it now...

my keyboard haz problem with one key, i guezz you noticed, zo it'z actually not 'z' but 'the mizzing key' except for clotrimazole, it'z really z

thank you and get well zoon to everyone who haz zymptomz :)

Yeah i agree with everyone about the UTI...sounds like a very mild one tho if its gone away on its own.

It may also have been because it was the first time you had sex and irritated the urethra...i know how you feel as ive had it for well over a year now but i had a lot f UTIs a while back so i think my urethra is damaged......on the way to getting it sorted tho! doctors app on tuesday and if nothing pops up its off to the urologist!

Glad to hear its gone away tho...UTIs are something id never wish on anyone!

Hi,
Drinking water will work...!!!

I decided to browse the net when I found small drops of Blood in my Urine along with burning sensation while and after urination. I visited this site for the first time Yesterday night around 1.00 AM after I realized that the pain that I'm feeling is not just my imagination (I was taking this pain as my imaginary pain for the past one week..!)
I read all the responses written in this site and I decided to drink lots of water to see if it  will work..! I drank 2 glass of water immediately and  went to the Bathroom and then went back to sleep (To my surprise, after my last bathroom visit, I did not had that urgency of  going to bathroom again and was able to sleep well..). And today morning when I got up I drank more water and  made it a point that I will drink one glass of water  immediately after my each bathroom visit. I drank 4 glass of  water until now and I'm happy to tell that this water thing is working...:).  I no longer have that burning sensation and the pain while Urinating.. I'm planning to continue my "A Glass of Water After Every Bathroom Visit.." so that I  wont have this problem again.

So I would suggest to drink lots of water and see if it will bring down the symptoms..
Happy Water Day..!!

Jens.

Bladder infections are important to treat because they can progress into a serious condition known as pyelonephritis, which can permanently damage your kidneys.  Certain things raise this risk, none of which it sounds like you have.  It would be a shame to ruin your kidneys at a young age, right?

The natural remedies mentioned may or may not help your symptoms.  Most certainly, OTC oils do NOT kill bacteria and fungi.  It's best to learn this lesson early in life, because I see many 65 year old patients who still haven't.  "Natural," "herbal," etc remedies sometimes do work for people to reduce symptoms, but they rarely work for the reasons that the company tells you.  The FDA does not regulate non-pharmaceutical remedies, so there is marked variation in the contents of each pill in that bottle, or in each bottle of "tree oil".

If you tell your parents you're having a bladder problem, "trouble peeing," or whatever that you've never had before, they will take you to the doctor.  If you describe your symptoms, I GUARANTEE you that s/he will know exactly what's wrong.  May or may not ask you about sexual activity -- if s/he does, then say that you're not active.  Trust me, happens all the time and we take it with a large grain of salt if parents are present.  In women and older men with large prostates, UTI's are the normal and not the pathologic generally.  Many women who are celibate or monogamous get a UTI.  A UTI is NOT a sexually transmitted disease, regardless of what some might tell you.

The nice thing is that you can almost be guaranteed that E coli causes UTI.  There will almost certainly be no culture which could come back with "gonorrhea" or "chlamydia" unless your symptoms don't resolve with treatment.  These are unlikely given your symptoms.  You will get Ciprofloxacin (Cipro) and go home, take it, and your parents ought to be none the wiser -- even if their sitting in the room with you and the doc.

I appreciate the implication that you're obliged to be honest with a doctor regarding something so personal.  I'm not telling you to regularly lie to doctors or anyone else for that matter.  I'm just saying doctors see treating pathology as #1 and making sure every word you say is true -- not even #2, but more like #99.

I have had more uti then i can count..and most of them time it is directly from sex. Because your urethra being so close to your anus , it can cause the bacteria to transfer  to your bladder. The best way to prevent this is to pee before and after sex and make sure to  wash  the area with mild soap before and after.. no fragance.  I have found an excellent way to soothe the pain... To soothe  the burning sensation; buy 100 % pure tea tree oil and put all over the area...works beautiful.  Tea tree oil is an anti fungal.. which  will kill bacteria in the area and feel cool !! good luck

I'm from a family w/a lot of doctors and nurses, so I've asked alot of questions.  I asked about azo pills and they will not get rid of a uti if you already have one.  Only an antibiotic.  Azo is used to help prevent them.  Peeing after sex should help b/c it helps get rid of bacteria.  Some woman are prone to them, so even peeing may not work.  But it definatly helps.  Hope your feeling better!

yes, you need to urinate every time, afterwards.  That's no guarantee, but a good starting point.

thanks thanks... i'll try it out immediately. in fact, i tried drinking lots of water yesterday and the pain actually subsided. and i no longer feel that pressure that makes me feel like urinating often. yep... but if say i no longer feel the pain or discomfort after taking the cranberry pills, does it mean that i'm fine already? and are there any ways to prevent this from happening again if i were to engage in sexual activities?

If you are going to treat it yourself PLEASE do not use cranberry juice!!! Get cranberry pills at the health store. Cranberry juice contains so much sugar that it will actually cause you even more problems. So unless you can find a sugar free juice that actually contains genuine cranberry extract, avoid it.

Try taking 4 or 5 cranberry extract pills, then repeat in 4 hours. You will probably feel relief within the day.

(or you can get an antibiotic)

You can buy a kit at the drugstore called AZO test kit, and it tests for certain levels in your urine.  There are AZO pills that you can purchase over the counter to help relieve the symptoms, but you definitely need to see a doc.
Sex can cause UTI's, so every time you have sex, it is a good practice to go to the bathroom when you are done.  Sort of flushes the system out if you know what I mean.
Don't wait about calling the doc.  It will get worse.

These ladies hit right on (as usual!) You need antibiotics...a simple trip to your family dr...a little pee in a cup, and you will get antibiotics....you should not have to confess your sexual business with anyone.  Do it SOONER than later to prevent a bladder and even worse...a kidney infection.

I agree with the ladies! it does sound like a UTI I've had it twice!!  can definetely be caused by sexual activity! the wanting to go to the bathrrom so many times...the pressure in the abdomen and discomfort! oh hate that! drink a lot of water! and you'll probably have to go to the doc to get it checked out! don't worry it's not only caused by sex! I got it when I was back in high school! hated it this public bathrooms and would hold it for hours! lol that's how I got it! =/   anyways good luck!

Sex usually provokes a urinary tract infection.  OOOh they are brutal.  Unfortunately, you need an antibiotic to treat this.  In the mean time you can buy some over the counter Uristat to help relieve some of the pain/pressure, but it wont eradicate the infection.  UTI's are not an std but are usually caused by sex.  Good luck!
