I had severe pain on my right side, still had my periods and tested positive for being pregnant.  I went to the doc and they did an ultrasound and did not find a gestational sac, but assured me that they wouldn't this "soon".  They told me I had a cyst on my right fallopian tube and told me that I shouldn't worry, but if it causes problems to see the doc again.  To make a long story short, I was admitted into the hospital because the "cyst" on my fallopian tube was an ectopic pregnancy and I was 7 1/2 weeks along, and very shocked to hear I was that far along anyways (since we had only been trying for a month).  It was the ectopic they were seing on my fallopian tube instead of a cyst and did tell me they don't see many cysts on fallopian tubes, most of them are found on ovaries.  Make sure with your doctor you rule out a possible ectopic.  PID causes them.  Mine was due to endometriosis.  In two weeks after I heal (this just happened last week), they are going to flush my tubes out with water and dye and make sure there isn't anything else wrong.

Good luck!

I had a cyst on my Fallopian tube... It had to be removed but, sometimes cysts resolve themselves. A 2nd opinion might be needed.

Are you sure she said cysts in the fallopian tubes?  Usually if they are cysts, it would be in the ovaries.  Ovarian cysts are most usually liquid-filled and often drain by themselves after a month or two.  If they don't, the doc might put you on the pill, to try to calm the hormones so the cysts will come down in size and go away.  There is also the possibility of having them drained if nothing else works.  If there is a mass in a fallopian tube, it would often be from an ectopic pregnancy, and this would be treated fast and seriously by the doctor, with a shot or an operation, both of which are designed to remove the mass.  But if she said a "cyst" for sure and said it was in the tube for sure, I don't know what it is.

PID can definitely affect your fertility if it is let go untreated.  So do everything your doctor said and take your meds exactly as instructed.  After you are healed from that, she might want to order an HSG (a process where dye is put into your uterus through a catheter and pumped out your tubes, to be sure they are still clear).  If you haven't had the PID for long, you may not need to have this done because it might all have been caught before any long-term damage was done.
