pregnancy blood test???

i was wondering, i've never had a pregnancy blood test, only the urine test, now my question is how long do they take? do they tell you in the office if you are pregnant or not? how accurate is it? is a urine test more accuret?  Is it the most sensitive test to test for early pregnancy?

My HPT is also negative, twice already. Please help me. I want to know where can I have a blood test in Las Vegas

Hpts are strictly qualitative and can only tell you if you're pg if your hcg level is detected by the specific  brand.  Blood test, on the other hand, are qauntitative and will measure the amount of hcg in your system.

A blood test is the most accurate because the hpt's have limits to the amount of hormone they can detect.  However, the urine tests are 99% accurate if not taken too early.  If you have already missed your period then any hpt is very accurate - to get instant results.

The blood test is your best bet for a definitive answer.  The time to get the results can vary.  It depends on where they send the blood sample for analysis.  If it's just a different floor of the same building then it takes only a day.  If it's a lab in a completely different city, then it would probably take about 3 days.

i took a hpt when i thought i was pregnant and it was positive. when i went to the dr. for my visit, she performed a manual exam and as she was feeling around in there she said, yup, you're pregnant alright and did a urine test. they did a blood test and if i remember correctly came back quickly (within a day or two) because it does need to go to the lab. yes, the blood test is most accurate.

The urine test is just the easy & quickiest way of determining pregnancy.. Not always the most accurate.. The blood test has to go to the lab but your doctor can find out the results that day or the day after.. I had a negative HPT a couple actually and went to get blood work done and it tested posative for pregnancy.. Blood tests are the most reliable form of testing..
