question about my smear results?

i posted a question on here about 6 months ago asking about my smear results as the doc rang and told me the results were abnomal and it was nothing to worry about yet, sometimes there're abnormal and then in 6 months they clear them self up..  i thought it was an std/i but when i had another one last week what she was saying made it sound like it wasnt an std/i??
she said my cervix had the abnormal results and explained that sometimes this happens randomly and will clear itself up in 6 months but if it hasnt (i havent had the results yet) i have to go to the hospital so they can have a proper look at it..

my question is what ever i have is it safe for me and my partner to have sex without a condom? (im on the pill!!)

thanks

Hi, I have had several bad paps and dyspasia treated by several methods.  I had 1 leep after 1st son 13 years ago and was good until after 6 week check up from 2nd son 5 years ago, another leep.  tests still good.  Leep worked best for me.  If you are worried though maybe they can get you in sooner.  My friend had severe dysplasia in a year.  She had leep and test are good.  Cells change for many reasons, sometimes from one of the HPV viruses.  I am not sure why, but I dont show signs of HPV.  Good Luck

thanks for ya comments!!

the nurse just rang me. she said the results are abnormal again :( so she is refering me to the hospital and i will have to go in and see a specilist who will look at it under a microscope to see what it is. she said it will probably take about 5 months to get an appointment. she is posting me the results. she said its not cancer but they dont know what is is ??

she said its not an std and rechecked the original results to tell me im std free :) but now i've gotta wait five months with this hanging over my head ahh so not cool

hi..
i agree with the other post.. bad results DOES NOT always mean
std ... and it is true it does sometimes treat itself on its own..
i had bad results last summer and had to get a colposcopy..
my results were pre-cancerous cells due to HPV.. i had a conization done (procedure to cut off the bad cells with a leep)..i now have to get colposcopy to make sure all is ok.. to get to your point... if it helps you my gyn did explain to me that women with mild changes (abnormal results) do not get treatments because it usually clears up..they do procedures ONLY if you have high grade cervical changes or cells that are cancerous or pre-cancerous.. keep in mind that the treatments can cure the cervical changes if follow up is done when needed.. plus if you have big problems it is your doctor's job to make sure you get the proper treatment needed... they usually know what needs attention and what can weit...
good luck

Well I would get another opinion. Ihad abnormal result in 04,they did the colposcopy right away and then did the LEEP of course I had severe dysplasia and cervical cancer with that but i would recheck it soon

hi i always have an inconclusive result , i repeat evry year instead of 3 and have a colposcopy done last time , which is what they will do to you this time ! try not to worry some of us have abnormal skin cells , this is not an std . if you have been at risk of std you should get checked out before not using condoms with ya fella . good luck x x
