red dots on legs??

Hi, I would have posted this on the dermatology forum, but it looks like it's not very active. So I thought somebody here could give me some advice. For as long as I can remember I have had these red dots on my legs. More so on my calfs than my thigh. It's the holes where the hair grows from. They are not risen and they don't itch. It doens't really look like a rash either. They are just really red. I have tried every kind of razor and shaving cream known to man and nothing helps.I have tried shaving really lightly and still nothing. This has prevented me from wearing shorts, but this summer I'm going to be going to Arizona and Mexico and I really don't want to wear pants there, especialy on the beach. Does anybody know what this is and how to get rid of it? Also, I have tried the fake tanning lotion and it doesn't help either.

nalla i see this often on people (im a massage therapist so i see skin!) i dont know what it is, but maybe it has to do with the courseness of the hair? the only thing i can think of is maybe trying hair removing creme or waxing that rids the hair under the skin. i say who cares! wear shorts and be confident. its too hot to hide. i  have a condition on my arms that causes red bumps. its just a hereditary thing that i couldnt make go away if i wanted to. i used to not want to show, but now i do. i figure its not something anyone can catch and its not horrible, just red bumps. mine is called something like keratosis pilaris>? it is the pores get clogged. i doubt its your problem i dont think it happens on the legs. basically with me the only thing that helps is to use a loofah and moisturize like mad.
