Hi there.  First, let me just tell you that on average, it takes couples a year to get pregnant.  :>)  It doesn't happen overnight for everyone and you are just one of these people.  Doesn't mean anything is wrong with you.

Above is incorrect, you do not ovulate for 6 days.  You ovulate for 24 hours a cycle.  However, sperm can live for up to a week and wait and meet that egg during ovulation time.  The way to catch an egg is to try this--  start tracking your cycle---  cycle day one is the first day of your period.  Begin counting from there and on cycle day 10, begin having intercourse.  Have sex that day and every other day from then on until day 20 (so 5 times) or a few more days if you have a long cycle.  This should put you in business with catching that egg.

Most women do ovulate mid cycle, however, if you are irregular when you get your period, figuring out ovulation is much trickier.  What reasons do they suggest for the irregularity and how irregular are you?  Do you have long cycles?  Hypothyroid?  Other symptoms?

You only ovulate for a few days ( I think 6?)  of the month. Speak to your doctor and ask how you can figure out when you're ovulating. At least this will give you better chances. Good luck!
