why does my right breast hurt? mostly just on the right lower side.

just within this month my right breast has hurt three different times, it lasts a few days and goes away and then comes back like a week later. i'm breastfeeding a one year old (trying to quit) about three times a day and it's not the soreness from being too full that i'm feeling, allthough when that happens it makes it almost unbarable. it feels like it's bruised, feels like someone punched me in it, though nothing like that happened. i'd really like to know what this is if anyone knows, it worries me that it could be something serious.. thanks for any replies.

i sleep on my side but i sleep on both sides and my stomach, i move around alot so i don't think that's the cause... and reading about mastitis well i don't remember having flu-like symptoms beforehand but maybe i'll talk to the people at the health clinic about it sooner rather than later.

It could be mastitis or something more serious.  If it continues to hurt, see your doctor.
