Thanks Lee. You have already been such a great person to talk with.  Stories like yours and Narla's let me know I'm not alone and we ARE survivors.  Just like I WILL survive my withdrawal in a couple of weeks.  It will take probably close to a month to feel somewhat human but I will hang in there.  I will just remember the pain is getting me closer to something good...not pain that is going to end up killing me like some terminally ill people have to go through.  Easier said than done right now and I will probably have some posts crying out what have I done pretty soon.  I'm worried I've numbed so many emotions they may all come flooding back but I'm already set up with my counselor and psychiatrist to be on close guard.  You guys mean the world.  If it weren't for this site, I would have lost a lot of confidence in myself in going through with this detox.  But hearing the stories of people who actually hung in there, I think, what is so different about me?  I can do it to!  I love all of you guys and thanks for sticking with me.  Like I said, in a couple of weeks, I'm going to need a lot of help and it's good to know I have friends...Brandy

Hey guys, my name is Brandy, I'm 32 and from Birmingham.  I'm addicted to methadone and will be going cold turkey in two weeks.  The date set is December 2nd.  I have two boys who will both have a birthday on Thursday, one will be 14 and one will be 11.

Lee, I too was kidnapped by my mother and her new husband she met that had just got out of prison for rape.  I was not raised by my mother so I didn't really "know" her, just saw her here and now.  My Dad and Grandmother raised me.  But when I was nine, she moved away with this man, we didn't even know where and then out of nowhere came to visit my sister and me, who was five at the time.  In the middle of the night we were on an airplane headed to somewhere we had no idea.  My Dad had trusted her for one night to stay at her mother's house with us.  We ended up in Jacksonville, FL for six weeks and my sister and I blocked most of it out thankfully, but we were raped, I remember having a plate broken over my head, him picking me up by my neck and dropping me on the concrete and then making me get up and I say I loved him I was a bad girl.  Finally, my Dad found us and took us back to Birmingham. Needless to say, my "mother" ended up coming back to Birmingham two years later when the man was arrested for kidnapping, raping and murdering at least seven women over the course of those two years.  He's now on death row as a serial killer in Melbourne, FL, close to Tampa.  I am here to talk to any survivors of anything like this or about the horrible addiction to methadone.  I may be off and on in the after December 2nd, depending on how I'm feeling but I think I will be much better to be on here for inspiration as much as I can.  Everyone has already helped me sooo much!
