Avoiding dairy and gluten products

I just thought I would share with the group, I just went to a yoga retreat for four days at Kripalu, the largest yoga center on the east coast, and met with their senior nutriotionist, who also used to work for many years at Canyon Ranch. Given my large range of inflammatory/autoimmune/immune issues, he suggested I cut out ALL dairy and ALL gluten product and just generally all flour, whether it's gluten or not. He believes (and research supports) that they are the primary contributors to inflammation in the body, along with the other allergens if you are sensitive to them (eggs, peanuts, tree nuts). And sugar too, he told me to cut out.
This is not news to me but I have not been following this diet as my GM is quiet. However, I have allergies, asthma, and Hashimoto's, as well as fatigue periodically and a toxic feeling. So, I am going to attempt this starting this week and see if it helps. For those of you who are actively inflamed right now, you may want to try as well.

I've been strictly vegan since before my GM (just own personal choice... I'm also picky of where my veggies and fruit come from) and prior to vegan strictly vegetarian and gave up meat when I was 6ish; just one day said "NOPE" to my parents lol

Hello,
Miriam thanx for the info girl. I have tried cutting down on dairy and gluten (flour stuff). But finding it difficult to maintain it. I'm a total bread eater n less of rice n pastas n stuff. I dont know how to substitute whole wheat :(( .... I did google something with millets and its flour but dont know for sure if its gluten free .... Any list of foods you can mention to include?

Hi Miriam - glad to hear from you :)

I think I have posted before I am 100% gluten free for quite a few years, I actually think I have celiac disease, because I get extremely ill if I eat gluten.

I also am lactose free (I do eat lactose free yogurt for the probiotic) and some goat cheese/goat yogurt.

I do find this helps my inflammation and pain levels and it is easy enough to do if when you eat these things you get as sick as I do :)

Cheers, Jo
