Breast Care Centre

I was informed by my doctor today that the Women's College Hospital has stated that they don't think that they can help me.   He is going to give them a call to see if they would at least see me and review my file.  Is it because I've had the double mastectomy?    When I heard about the hospital after 4 yrs. of this going on, I was so excited that maybe at last I could get some kind of workable treatment and help.  What another blow!  So I guess it's back to more surgery this week and a trip to infection control doctor who would probably suggest that I go on a picc line again if I hadn't developed allergies to almost all the antibiotics.
Thanks ladies for all the information and questions;  they offered hope and,  answered some questions that I had.
  God Bless you

Hi Jo:
Don't feel badly;  I thought that this may be a good opportuniy for any doctor to use me as a "Case Study".   I still have breast tissue which makes it more complex.  Monday,
I am seeing the surgeon who did my mastectomies as the surgeon that I saw on Monday said that this next surgery which may include lymph nodes is not something that he would be comfortable doing.  At least he was smart enough to admit it.
I do believe that WCH has given the name of a doctor in Toronto who may be willing to see me.   Here's hoping.   I will learn more hopefully today.
Have a good day....and THANK YOU Jo  you answered more questions than I thought I had.   Pat

Hi

Yes, I think that Women's might be judging the fact that you have had bilateral mastectomy as the reason not to see you.

They are breast cancer surgeons really, and feel that any drug care, etc. needs to be managed by a rheumatologist, in conjunction with their care.

I am sorry as I thought this was a good opporunity for you.

Maybe it will lead to a better doctor for you...

Jo
