PremCal with Vitamin D

Has anyone had experience with PremCal? A thyroid specialist recommended it to me because he feels my dose of vitamin D 5400 IUs D3 daily is too high. (PremCal is 4000 D3 daily + calcium and magnesium in two tablets). My reservations about this cal-mag-D3 product is that the dose of magnesium is too low, the form of calcium is carbonate not citrate, and the D3 is in tablet not gel cap form. He did suggest that my D levels be monitored more regularly every 2-3 months so that I can stay on top of it which I think is good advice. But for now, until I get advice from the forum, I'm sticking to my 5400 IUs D3 and, separately, magnesium 300-500 per day.

Thanks, that was just what I needed to hear. I raised my dose to 5400 IUs today after my D levels feel back down to 28 from 41 on 4400 IUs D3 daily (during the fall I experienced clinical deterioration). I'm not changing anything until I have another blood test. You're 100% correct solid numbers are needed here.I think 5000 might be my maintenance dose.

So why did the thyroid specialist think your D dose was too high.  Did he have some hard facts or was he just undereducated in that area.  I would have had him check my D level, especially before I would agree to any changes.  IMO I would stay with what you got until he could give you some solid reasons with numbers to back it up.
