Im 41 yrs of age, it was in my late 20's i got a hair cut and i noticed when the barber was cutting my hair, i felt the clippers hit two to three nick tinny bumbs on my head that stung me badly. I never went back to him again or let any barber tuch my hair after that. But now those same hair nicks on my head has spread lot and gotton worse, I come my hair in a certain way so I don't earatate the hair bumbs on the back of my head and neck. I find it easyer to just let my hair grow out to cover up the area. I really would like to get rid of these annoying hair bumbs!!

Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination, but it can be due to Acne keloidalis nuchae. It occurs when hairs on the back of the head and neck grow into the skin, become inflamed, and cause scar tissue. These ingrown hairs usually occur following a short haircut on the back of the head and nape of the neck.

Treatment of AKN includes suppression of the inflammation with antibiotics and steroid gels or intralesional steroid injections. So apply antibiotic cream like Neosporin or bactroban. If the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics and steroids may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.

Larger bumps of AKN present for a while or if not responding to treatments may need surgical removal.

Please get it evaluated from a dermatologist.

I hope that helps. Take care and regards.
