foggy vision

I have frequent foggy vision, but only in my right eye. My right eye is pretty much useless when it occurs. I haven't been able to determine what, if any, variables cause this condition. Some days I wake up with it, other days I don't. It seems that all variables are the same on days when I have it and when I don't. On days when I have it, it seems to intensify after I get out of the shower and last all day. Although, toward afternoon and evening the haze is mainly around my peripheral vision. I've had this affliction for at least a year and when I saw an ophthalmologist it happened to be on a day when my vision was clear. He checked my eyes and told me to come back when I was experiencing the problem. I haven't been back because he acted like he had never experienced anyone with the problem. For several years, I have occasionally had a build-up of a really white gooey substance in the corner of my left eye only -- never in my right. It doesn't happen often and when it does after I remove it, I don't see it again for quite a while. When I was 20, I had a severe case of guillain barre syndrome which caused total facial paralysis. I wonder if this could be the variable I am looking for. I regained most of my facial muscles. The left side of my face is slightly dead, but no one notices except me. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Get in to see an eye specialist IMMEDIATELY.  I also have this problem.  Mine, specifically is edema, which is excess fluid, and I need medication to dry up the excess fluid.  Do NOT mess with this.  It CAN be very serious.  The sooner you get in, the better.
