Cause is deeper.
Might be: anxiety , post traumatic stress disorder, disliking of a part of the body that you're touching,

Solution
1. Psychologist
2. Touch of another person reduces anxiety .masseur or significant other or just touch of a friend.
3. Accepting how you look and that you're touching your nose and do not fight it.  Colloquially speaking -loving yourself. Sport helps also just doing whatever you love to do workwise
4. Writing your thoughts

animalistic mechanical habit reduction excercises won't help.
Neither reminders from others to stop.
You need to attack the SOURCE in your brain which is what is written first. Self neglect anxiety loneliness compulsiveness. You need to experiment on yourself what's the source.

I have the same problem. I guess it must be related to some deeper issues.
I have to touch my nose (from the outside) all the time - especially when stressed or bored-, and I also feel like blowing it a lot.
I also have an obsession to click my thumb bones.

Anyone has an idea about how to overcome this?

Thanks

Hello, I've been doing it for years and I can't explain it ! I keep on touching and pressing my nose so that I can feel the cartilage. It's not nose picking, this is different. I can do it for hours everyday, especially when I'm studying and I can't stop it, even when it starts to hurt. I told my psychoanalyst about it but nothing came out of this conversation until now. Did you heard of anything that could explain this ?
Thank you !

I also have this problem. I twist and pinch and touch the end of my nose. I've done it so much the cartilidge has become seperated and creates a crinkling feeling. I touch it constantly and it's also become a big problem for me. I wonder if there is any help for this problem. It seems very rare. It's different from rhenotilexomania (complusive nose picking), but that's the closest thing I can find to it. The difference is this is touching, twisting and pinching, NOT picking inside. I'm dying for some answers!!

2. know your ocd .the root cause of OCD is the fear .the only thing we fear is the fear itself. But fear must fear of us (our determination )
