okey doke give me some Thanks giving Traditions.
Being an Immigrant I love to hear of the differant foods and traditions everyone has.

I like to make my moms 'trifle ' Make Jello add ,fruit,few walnut bits, add sponge cake , top with 'custard' I have done flan here, then whipped cream ,decorate with fresh fruit. Made a faux pas once I tried to use the whip you squirt on from a can, it all fell flat .and runny LOL
We always have a fruit salad
It has Marshmellow, cool whip, grapes, manderian oranges, bananas, I don't have the
recipe on me ( I am at work Shhhhh don't tell anyone I should be doing my work )

I love your idea of going to the firehouse and then helping a family out, that really makes the day special, plus, gives everyone a great day as well.

Oh I adore all Cary Grants movies but I really like the' Bishops Wife ' david Niven as her husband the bishop is good aswell. I had never eaten marshmallows on top of sweet potatoes before I came to the US ..my family from UK still think its odd, they dont mix sweet and savoury, me I love it, whenever I ask the kids to have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich they freak out..me I love em in fact I like anything that is sinful, to eat that is .......
heres a tradition.Its a must save the wish bone from the turkey ( pick all meat off wash) let it dry out good, You and your hubby each hold it by one end the point part faces up and pull till it snaps, whomever gets the longest piece of wishbones wish shall come true.An American tradition.
Dried Indian corn husks hung outside on front pourch.
Arranged various gourds and mini pumpkins for centerpiece.
Heres my familys tradition we go to the local firehous and ask for a family in need. we buy a turkey, stuffing cranberries, potatoes, butter, carrots, you get the idea, fill a box. Take it to their home and give it to them the day before, Priceless. Last year it was a woman 7 children whose husband had died a month prior cardiac arrest.

pumpkin pie
pecan pie
stuffing
crescent rolls
wine
cider
deviled eggs (my mom makes them for EVERY holiday and they're SO good!)
before we eat (this is super corny) but everyone takes a turn at the table to say what they were thankful for that year. my mom and i make cornocopia centerpieces and little turkey name tages. thanksgiving is also when we start making our christmas wreaths. (we make the thanksgiving ones starting nov. 1) we make those for family and friends. which i need to make my family a new one this year. we also watch the macy's thanksgiving day parade and three stooges (my dad and uncle started that tradition.)

Like you, Margy, I'm also an immigrant. But, hubby is not. lol.
His specialty is baked yam with marshmellow. My contribution is sweet-tator-pie with an extra splash of ...uh, uh....cannot think of that creamy coffee/choco. liquior. Yum!!!
We'd have joined collaboration of stuffed turkey, and stuff ourselves silly at the same time.
We'd snuggle together and watch 'The Bishop's Wife' (with Cary Grant,of course) faithfully every Thanksgiving.

Well, I always make a delicious pork roast, along with it, I make mashed potatoes or have candied yams, small peas, cranberry jel and of course pumpkin pie. I am not a big fan of turkey, so I have this meal instead, besides, everyone says I make a great pork roast. LOL.
