Pain in my chest

Question

Im 18 y/o and the other day when i was reaching to open my car door with my hand, i was suddenly very short of breath. i was gasping for air and it felt like my chest was closing. my heart was beating very fast and it hurt very bad. i do not smoke often, maybe a couple cigs every few weeks. but i did have 3 that day. anyway, i assumed it was a pulled muscle so i took a hot shower and took ibuprofen. i was able to breath regularly afterwards and my heart rate returned to normal, but it still hurts. the pain is still there and only on the left side of my chest. it feels like its slightly above my nipple. it lessens when i lean forward. when im laying back, i have a feeling of clicking and popping under my ribcage it feels like. its been about 3 days since this has happened, and this is the second time in my life this exact same thing has happened to me. is it a pulled muscle? a pulmonary embolisim? spontaneous pneumothorax? i am very tall and thin and dont excersis much, should i see a doctor?

I think it is a pulled muscle since the IB helped and it is getting better. I would be checked for high blood pressure though. 
I hope your feeling much better soon:)

Thanks for the response. Ive never had any heart problems, but high blood pressure runs in my family. The IB did help, and the pain is getting better day by day, just like last time. This leads me to believe it is in fact a pulled muscle. What do you think? Thanks again.

I am so sorry for the late response. I think you may have a pulled muscle. I would go see your doctor though to be on the safe side. If the pain gets worse I would recommend going to the ER. Did the IB help at all?
