false positive herpes test

for you to understand what causes me to think i've had a false positive herpes culture i have to provide a little bit of background information,
i am 18 and just recently lost my virginity, but before i did i wanted to do the responsible thing and get on birth control but that caused a problem because i didn't want the first person to ever touch me to be a stranger, so i did a very irresponsible thing and had a friend of mine who had been sexualy active for quiet some time but wasn't interested in being on birth control due to religious reasons go to the doctor and give me her pills. my periods usual last only 5 days at the max, i don't cramp and besides bleeding i only experience a mild  nausea the day that i start. Shortly after i started taking the pill i skipped i think it was 2 months, during this time i was also on many antibiotics and steriods due to a combo of strep throat, spider bites and ear infections because i'm always really sick in the winter. when i heard that antibiotics can cause the pill not to work i got worried i was pregnant and that the pills would hurt the baby if i was so i stoped taking everything and was going to wait it out till i knew for sure that it was safe to take them. about 3 days afteer i stoped taking the pills i started my period and it lasted about nine days and i cramped really bad, i thought nothing of it and assumed my body was just reajusting and making up for the last 2 months but about 2 days latter i started again. i ended up having 4 periods in a month and a half maybe a little more but not even a full 2 months each of them were 8-11 days long and more and more painful, between them i had anywhere from a 2-5 day break. during the last period i had a break out of what looked like chafing to me, it did burn when i urinated but i assume any raw skin would, but my boyfriend had also told me that he thought he might have genital warts so as soon as i had a day that i was off my period and didn't have to work i went to the doctor, i didn't tell them about the problems with the birth control because i didn't want me and my friend to get into trouble, he said that i didn't have genital warts but that i was tested positve for herpes culture but he didn't say what type, he wasn't a specialist or anything because i couldn't go during the week so i had to go to an er to be seen at all, but ever sence the constant periods have stoped and i have returned to normal i haven't had a single breakout or even any irritation, also my sores did not resemble any of the pictures i could find on the computer about herpes and i have no other side effect, i'm not on any supresent pills because i don't have a dactor that i can go to for a follow up so you would think i would of had something else happen by now because it has been a long time. I don't mean to say anything about doctors but i'm wondering if maybe what i do have isn't herpes and it just can cause a false positive or maybe if the doctor wasn't all that qualified because he didn't act very perfessional in the sence that he was rude, rough and barked at me for being tense even after i told him it was my first time letting anyone other than my boyfrien of the time touch me, also i did more reasearch the folowing week after i went to the doctor and i do show alot of pretty obvious signs of having genital warts that i don't understand how any credable doctor could miss.
