What does ANA Test 1:1280 With ANA Profile Test: SM Antibody 15, RNP Antibody 136, SJOGRENS 42 mean?

My son is 11 years old. The last 9 months he has had severe stabbing pains that shoot everywhere through-out his body, mostly in his stomach, chest & back area. He has ringing and pain in his ears that come and go. The last 2 weeks he has also had muscle tightness/tenderness and pain in his back, neck and upper arms. Had ANA Test done, results were 1:1280 with centromere pattern. An just recently had ANA Profile done, with results DNA AB Double Standard: 0, SM ANTIBODY: 15, RNP Antibodies: 136 (abnormal), SJOGRENS: 42, ANTIBODIES (SSA) SJOGRENS: 20, ANTIBODIES (SSB). An a CBC; all ok except (HCT) 41.0 (LOW). Complement C3: 109, Uric Acid: 3.7. C-Reactive Protein: <0.6. Total CK: 58. Aldolase: 5 u/l. Creatinine Urine: 161. Total Protein Random Urine: 13.00. Mercury: <2.0. Rheumatologist does not seem concerned. But we are. What do these results mean.

As mentioned by 33Melly, Lyme and other infections can be a big problem in children who exhibit some of the symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorders.  In some areas over 25% of the ASD cases are actually due to Lyme Disease, and in our study in N. California ASD groups, infections like Mycoplasma, Chlamydia and HHV6 are found in a majority of these cases.  

I am not suggesting that your son has ASD, only that children with memory, learning, sensory, social problems often have infections as an underlying problem (and in some cases the cause of their problems).

We would like to thank everyone for their help, support and suggestions. Almost 1 year ago our son started having terrible stabbing pains throughout his body. Along with severe ringing in his ears and the loss of his eyesight. To this day we have not been able to get a diagnosis from any doctor, just run arounds. We started doing our own research with his test results, symptoms and the suggestions from everyone. We came across the worlds oldest antibiotic, made by nature "Colostrum". Which also regulates the immune system. We went to our local heath food store, bought it, and started him on it 3x a day. He has been on it a little over a month now. An after 1 week his eyesight came back to normal from 20/400 before, an by 3 weeks the ringing in his ears and the pains he was having every where were gone. Finally after almost a year, he is pain free and is back to being a normal 11 year old. I guess we will never know what was truly going on with his body, but we have found something that corrected it. Thanks again to everyone, for your help, support and suggestions.

Please find a LLMD (Lyme-literate doctor) and have him tested for Lyme and coinfections. I know it sounds bizarre becaue that is what I thought when it was first brought up to me. Once it was confirmed it really esplained a lot.
The reason I suggest an LLMD is that there is great controversy over the testing and treatment of Lyme and most doctors do not understand the truth because they have not been educated about it or are the closed-minded type. Find a Lyme support group in your area and ask them for a recommendation. Just any old doctor won't do if you want to find out the truth.
Your son's symptoms sound very similar to how my daughter was, minus the preemie part. She ended up deveioping Lupus from\the Lyme and I ended up with RA from mine. It is trreatable and reversible.

Thank you for replying. Sorry for being so brief. The doctors we have seen do not thinks this matters but, our son was also born 3 months premature. Had the usual complications with being born premature. But when he was about 1 to 1 1/2 years old he developed a jerking of his head, that lasted about a month. Did CT Scan, EEG Awake & EEG asleep, all came back normal. Then when he was around 2 years old he stopped talking. Got him into speech therapy, which he currently is in. At 2 1/2 years old he started having bad leg pains. Which he still has, but is different than the other pains and are relieved by pain relievers. The newer pains are not. They just recently tested him for RA which was normal. Then around 3 1/2 years old he developed a stutter, which he still has. An he has a mild mixed hearing loss. He struggled in school till a year ago, then just took off and excelled. Making A-B's, until he started having the pains and the other symptoms listed before. The pains just started one day out of the blue. Which we then though was from a cold or pleurisy or something like that. Until they didn't go away. He has always had trouble concentrating and remembering things, and is very forgetful. Last September 2009, he almost overnight went severely nearsighted (20/200 & 20/400). The eye doctor said he should not be that nearsighted with the way his eyes are shaped. But that everything looked normal. He also feels sick, nauseous and dizzy alot. Which I figured was from the pains. Seen GI Doctor. everything was normal. An just seen a Neurologist, who said my son was faking the pains and that there was nothing wrong with him. An that he needed to go see a psychiatrist. (his exact words). My son was as normal a child can be with the preemie problems he's had and speech, stuttering and hearing. Just wanting to know whats doing on with him. Just feel like were getting the runaround with the doctors. Thanks.

To be honest with you, there is obviously something going on but it is difficult to determine from lab tests what is causing it.  In children when we see the ear and hearing problems, widespread stabbing pain, it goes along with other symptoms that you may have noticed but did not list.  These are more subtle, but include some forms of autism behavior, fatigue,  inability to concentrate, remember things, visual difficulties, etc.  In our study of Autism Spectrum Disorder patients we found that the majority had chronic infections, especially those with neurological complaints (as opposed to neurobehavioral symptoms).  You can read more about this on our website  immed.org  under Neurological and Neurobehavioral Diseases.
