I am a healthy 54 year old with no medical problems. I noticed numbness in hands and sometimes feet upon waking. Once I'm up and moving around it goes away. I first noticed the problem when I took multi vitamins before bed. I stopped them for awhile and the symptoms went away. The I took them again and the numbness retuurned. I think it is either calcium, magnesium or potassium in the vitamins that might be the cause, but I cannot find anything about this on the web. Do anyone else with this problem take vitamins with minerals?
Another quick and economical way to relieve those symptoms is to wear hand splints at night. They are inexpensive and come for both left and right hands.Any health department at the big stores or drug stores will carry them. Sometimes just wearing them for a period of time will reduce the symptoms and any inflammation...but don't throw the splints away as this can come back. Joan.
Wow. Thanks for the post.
That seems obvious but we don't pay much attention to how we sleep. After all, we are asleep. But I've done that: been cold at night and tucked my hands under my chin. That bend the wrists at a sharp angle and I'll end up with tingling.
Thanks for bringing this to light.
