Menopause and swollen fingers

I am peri-menopausal as it hasn't been a full year of no periods yet, but for the past few months have noticed difficulty getting my rings on and off. I don't seem to have swelling anywhere else, my clothes and shoes aren't tight , just the rings.  I noticed someone posted a similar question back in January but no responses.  Anyone else experience this, and if so, did it last or stop after awhile?  I don't know if I should have my rings enlarged or not.

Hi, i'm 57 years old and no sign of my periods stopping. they stopped for 4 months about 6 months ago, then just came back, and i am on a low dose of HRT, i get headaches and my fingers and feet swell, and thats about it, sometimes a bit of brain fog..... other than that i'm happy and feeling ok.  But surely 57 is a bit old to still be having periods, most of my friends had their last ones before the age of 50.

I understand. It does feel like it is never going to end.  Are you having heavy periods still?  Mine have gotten heavier as I've gotten further along into menopause and are shorter.  Do they still come regularly?  We're all different.  My sister finished menopause at 58.  I'm thinking I'll be in for the same.  Sigh.

Hello~This issue is usually hormonal and when the body is adjusted after the menopause, the problem usually disappears. I would suggest trying a good, bio-identical progesterone cream, this is great to use during and after menopause and is very safe, you can get it at any health-food store. It acts as a natural diuretic  and helps to balance the hormones as they are going through the Peri-menopause/menopause phase.

I'm glad to hear the swelling as stopped.  Mine still swell in the morning but often the swelling had gone by mid afternoon or evening.  I'm hoping this will stop in time.  It would be good to hear if anyone else has suffered similarly.

I know this is 8 years later lol but I’m so upset about the size of my fingers.  It’s been almost a year now and I feel like it’s gotten worse instead of better.  You probably won’t even get this but if my some chance you do -did your fingers ever go back to normal size and if so how long
Thank you
My fingers are sausages sometimes.  How is your salt intake?  I find that makes it worse than ever now.  It's annoying, right?

I never did get a medical explanation.  It lasted quite a number of months and was uncomfortable so I had my ring resized. Now my fingers are back to their original size and my ring is too big.  I don't think I will ever know why they became swollen or why they went back to normal, I'm just glad they did!

Are you done medapause now? I am hoping this is not going to be forever. I am two years in. Very erratic period.!just had my period for two days and then three hours later it came again for a week but only filling one tampon a day. But still it’s making sleep hard also.
I've started the erratic phase myself.  Wowzie, it just keeps going, doesn't it? Start your own thread and we'll talk about your symptoms.

Hi,
Yes I am also going through the menopause and have noticed exactly the same thing.  It started about three months ago and yet it has been about 18 months since my periods stopped.  Like you, I haven't gained weight anywhere else, so would really be happy to hear if there is a medical explanation for this.
