Hi Ladies,
The latest post was over a year ago but for all moms that are experiencing same issues with their pregnancy now and are looking for some answers like we all did, I thought that an opinion from a mom that went through this would be helpful. I had a partial detachment and it was not a small one at my 11 week. I had few visits to the emergency room because the bleeding was super heavy and the blood cloths were bigger then a fist. I had contractions very often.
Please take care of yourself and your baby and do BED REST no matter what. My regular OBGYN was not very concerned either, his motto was 'if it is meant to be it will be' WHAT? I told him to give me another solution b/c I read a lot and in Europe they were giving some medicine that helps. After the numerous bleeding I told him that he needs to do something and he gave me a referral to a specialist, she was GREAT. Find somebody that deals with risk pregnancies, not regular OBGYN. They had seen cases like yours and know what to do.
Thank GOD, I had my baby at 36 1/2 and he was ok. I had other complications so I was scheduled for inducement but he started naturally a day before but b/c of heartbeat issues (nothing with the placenta) they had to do an emergency C-section right in the end. The bleeding had stopped around week 28 but I was on pills through. Please look for another opinion, do not give up on your baby and do not take this lightly.
Best of Luck to all of you
Sis

I have the same thing how many days did it take for the tear to heal? please get back to me did everything go okay. I will be 11 weeks on tuesday and i am worried.
Oh thank you for posting your experiences! I'm 13 weeks 3 days today and have had the exact word for word experience as macy_1, off and on gushing, then spotting, dark then nothing then heavy gushing, etc. I am now seeing a high-risk specialist. I saw my doc today who saw the bleeding on the u/s behind the placenta. He ordered me to bedrest (3rd time this pregnancy and I'm running out of sick leave). Also mentioned pelvic rest which includes sex and all other activity that can cause uterus to contract. This is my 3rd, my first I had pre-ecplampsia and I had her at 28 weeks, my second had decreased placental perfusion at the end so had to deliver at 38 weeks, both c-section, this is different experience. I see another high-risk specialist in the morning for a second opinion so I'll let you know what they say. I hope the bleeding stops to save the pregnancy, but scared that the bleeding may have or will cause problems to the baby if it survives as well..
how is your pregnanct now. I read your post. I am 11wks and since about 8wks have had the same exact stuff happening. Not sure what to expect?
I am 13 wks 2d and since 6 wks i have had gushing bleeding followed by cramps and generally unwell i have been permanently off work and up untill today noone was able to diagnose what the problem was as baby as doing great. I had another scan today while i had a bleed and it showed partial abruption the main part is still in tact though. I was told by my consultant that at the stage its at there is nothing i can do to make it worse or better so she said i could go back to work and take it easy.I wil more than likely deliver early if it gets worse. she said even if it doesnt the heavier the baby gets leaves things a bit riskier, but not to worry, i will be monitored fortnightly and thats as good as the can say for now. Im happy though because for weeks i had such heavy bleeds and outta no where a gush that would just destroy me i would spend a day on toilet and then a few days it got lighted then back to brown stale blood and a break for maybe a week then another gush and so on, as i said ive been putting up with this since i found out i was pregnant, so im relieved to know what it is. Its my 2nd pregnancy, my 1st ended in a missed miscarriage (not from same problem) I
I hope this nfo is of some help to you.
Hi I am 9weeks and found out I have a placenta abruptions..no bleeding just cramping throughout the day. I have read different info on this matter and it does not comfort me at all..and I am unsure what is going on..I was told my pregnacy was in "limbo" for now...??
I am having the same problem now. I am 7 weeks pregnant and had a scan 2 days ago which showed a small separation.I have had small amounts of light pink spotting on a few occasions since 4 weeks. My baby had a normal heartbeat and measured spot on for dates. The doctor said to rest and try not to do too much.
Just wondering if you ladies went on to have normal healthy pregnancies and if there is anyone else that can offer me advice?
i have the same problem and i m 7 weeks pregnant. it's a small abruption and my doc wasn't too concerned either, just told me to have plenty of bed rest, do only jobs that i absolutely have too and all would be well...he said it's a small abruption, don't worry...
I forgot to mention I am 8 weeks
I beileve I am going through the same although I am 8 weeks. I had 2 placenta abruptions with my last 2 kids, first child they didnt know till after she was born and the placenta came out in 2 pieces, and my second child was born at 36 weeks, and we almost lost her. 4 days ago I started gushing blood and had contractions, I thought I miscarried. I had an ultersound 2 days later and the baby is fine! I go to my doctor on friday. I am almost positive this is what happened. Im scared I will miscarry. I am wondering what happened to you ladies?? Please let me know if you read this
Hi! I am 9 weeks pregnant and 2 weeks ago I was also diagnosed with a smal placental separation. This is my third pregnancy and I never experienced ANY problems with my previous two so I am very concerned. I have been so irritated because my doctor acts like it's "no big deal" and I can't seem to find ANY information on this happening before 20 weeks. How are you doing thus far? Are things going well?
I think that the reason he wasn't too concerned is because he said that the main part was still attached. He said that it was a relatively small detachment. This leads me to think that he doesn't think that it will detach more and will possibly heal (fingers crossed). I was just getting myself all worked up and had this horrible feeling that anything I did was going to cause more damage.
Thanks ladies. So far, so good. I was done bleeding by Monday, but then woke up with brown spotting and light cramping on Thursday and Friday. I emailed my doc and he said that based on my ultrasound he isn't surprised that this was occuring and that I could expect it to continue for the next 7-10 days. He said just take it easy and pelvic rest is a MUST (as if I would consider otherwise anyway). Well, by Saturday the spotting stopped and for the last couple of days I have been feeling pretty good. That gut feeling that something is going to go wrong is gone. I am still definately going to take it easy, but I am not as worried as I was before. I just have a feeling that everything will be ok.
i dont have any input i think joy covered it all but you and your baby are in my prayers!! hang in there!!
Oh Gosh dear. I have not been through that but my post is just to let you know I will be following your story and I wish you the best of luck. I would be beyond scared. Please keep us posted.
The bedrest is a great idea because you definitely don't want the placenta to detach anymore. Detachment would cause your baby to stop getting oxygen and nutrition. I'm surprised your doctor isn't more concerned but I guess at this stage there really isn't anything he could do anyway since the baby would've live if born this early.
Once you hit what doctors call viability I'm sure he'll be more proactive in making sure things run smoothly (I think viability is 24-26 weeks?! I could be wrong).
And I don't see why a vaginal birth couldn't be possible. I think if you stay on bedrest and revisit your placenta via sonogram to see how it looks you may be surprised to find that it has healed or corrected itself or whatever it needs to do. It's so early that I wouldn't worry about how they'll be born just yet!
Anyone?
I am really scared that the placenta could detach more, even now. I have implemented a self imposed modified bed rest (well, as much as one can with 2 young children), because I am afraid that anything I do could cause more problems. There was nothing that I know of that could have caused this in the first place!
Today I have been having some light cramping and brown spotting. Ugh, I am so over being worried!
