Tooth pain with eating meat, what could it be?

As of late every time I eat steak on the left side of my mouth I feel like I bite down wrong or something and all a sudden I get REALLY sharp pain. Sometimes it goes away and I'm not bothered by it anymore but then there are other time like currently at 2:52am where it woke me up and now I can't sleep. It feels like I've been punched in the face and my tooth is super sensitive to cold, asprin and origel takes forever to work..... I don't understand but I do think that because I have a fractured tooth that might have something to do with it but it's only in the same are not that tooth....

What could it be and what can I do to help ease the pain until I get to a dentist?

Rei, if it's fractured so badly that you can feel the sharp edges of the break and you are in pain, the tooth should probably come out before it leads to a widespread infection.

If you have to, go to your emergency clinic for an evaluation.  It won't get better by itself.  You need medical assistance.

My best to you and hope you will be pain free soon.

I know it's bad when I can feel the inside of my tooth with my tongue.

Hi,
I totally agree with scottma.  If you have a fracture in a tooth you need to address it.  If you have a fractured tooth anywhere near another tooth, you need to address it.  A fractured tooth is a perfect place to breed bacteria.  The bacteria will not only affect the fractured tooth, but the ones next to it.  It spreads via the periodontal ligament and will slowly dissolve the bone that holds your teeth in place.

I had ONE tooth that bothered me.  Wound up loosing FOUR because I didn't have it checked soon enough.

Go by my example.  Get yourself to a dentist and have it checked out.  You'll be glad you did because it's alot easier to fix one than four!

Best to you,
Gellia
