Sir, I had the same case, I think... I was playing basketball without supporter the night of May 2, 2010. During the game, there was an instance of me falling to the ground with my butt first and slide myself for about a meter and a half distance. After the game, i rested for about 2 hours and took a bath. when i woke up the next day, there was a burning sensation in my penis along with all other muscle pains in my body. Not that it's been 2 years since i last played basketball. I took a bath a few hours i woke up on May 3 and the feeling of burn sensation and inflation started in the skin surrounding my penis. I took a ponstan (an anti inflammatory/pain reliever drug available in our country) and the itchy, burning feeling was gone. As of this writing, my penis' skin is still inflamed. I haven't had sex with other women other than my wife so I am pretty sure this wasn't an STD. can you please tell me what's going on with me or at least give me a starter to what direction i should go. thanks in advance.
Hello,
From the symptoms and the treatment prescribed, it can be balanoposthitis. Balanoposthitis is the inflammation of the foreskin and glans and can be caused by bacterial or fungal origins or by contact dermatitis. Oral course of antibiotics is needed.
In addition, please don’t use any cosmetics on the penis, instead use some topical antimicrobials like Bacitracin or Lotrimin. Also corticosteroids and topical immunosuppressants can be used but they are available under prescription. Retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin. In case the symptoms persist then please consult a urologist/dermatologist for evaluation and antimicrobials and steroids prescription.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
