Mike, The same thing happens to me and my mother in law that’s why i looked this up just now. I can’t find anything that answers our question.
what is the environmental changes you speak about??
Changes in life can cause anxiety and stress that will interfere with your sleep patterns.
If this is the case, csffiene will make the situation worse.
ANY life event can cause anxiety and depression.
We all deal with it differently and frequently don't understand why our bodies are acting the way they are...but changes in sleep patterns are VERY COMMON with anxiety and depressive disorders, as well as many other things.
Yes, we are not doctors and seeking help would be the sensible thing for you to do.
Good luck and let us know how you're doing!!
after some thought i guess the real question i had was , is something like this normal with environmental changes ( no matter how small) or is there an accual sleeping problem that i should see a doctor about . In reality i know that no matter what i post here the majority will claim the caffiene as the cause and that 99% of people here are not doctors nor qualified to even give advice.
While i understand the need to jump on the caffiene band wagon my point was that i drink caffiene all day so its not that i am having a cup right before bed and not being able to sleep because of the jolt or rush from it . if it was caffiene i would be affected all day , instead i drink whatever all day and still get tired after a day of work . this has started in the last 6~8 months where nothing has changed (i have drank mt. dew and coffee all day for years. My question i thought was simple , I work all day come home and relax watch tv play on the computer whatever , am so tired i am literally falling asleep in my chair or on the couch , I go to bed and lie there tossing and turning and get back up because i am no longer falling asleep tired.
I'm not sure I understand your question. You state that you pump your body full of caffeine all day, then wonder why you can't fall asleep at night? I don't mean to offend you, but it sounds like a no-brainer to me. Caffeine stays in your system for hours.
In the evening, the body produces Melatonin, that makes us sleepy. Caffeine can suppress production of this hormone for up to 10 hours. I would suggest cutting back on the amount of caffeine you ingest, as well as to stop drinking it earlier in the day. Then there's the other factors needed for restful sleep: a pitch black room with cool temperature, a relaxed body and mind, etc.
Good luck!
